Lounge in style

Your home is the best place to show off your chic style.  It's where you live, relax and entertain.  Fully furnished rooms you see in magazines may seem overwhelming, but it's simple when you take it step-by-step.

First, select a neutral - browns/tans or grey/blacks - and find the major pieces with those tones, such as a couch/sectional, large rug and media storage.  Be sure to include patterns and textures that add depth to your design.  Then, spice up your living quarters by pairing the neutrals with some bright, yet harmonizing colors...navy and yellow, grey and pink, brown and teal, for example.

Feel free to combine multiple colors and don't be afraid to change your mind (and room), whenever you desire.  Incorporate your favorite colors, shapes and objects.  So long as you stick to what feels right to you, you can't fail.  Below are some modern and fun living spaces to provoke your imagination!

I love the Meryl Crate and Barrel lamp. I ordered it last week and saw it in your renderings and it looked beautiful. You have great ideas! What do you think of zebra chairs in a modern living room?

What do you think of this with a zebra rug? Too much? What paint colors would you use? I'm lost help!

Hey Erika – I LOVE that couch! The color, the shape, the fabric, everything…

I think with the grey couch and a black/white rug, keeping a neutral wall is important. Especially if you still want to add some bursts of turquoise. A darker grey wall, such as Behr Creek Bend or Simple Silhouette, with a crisp white trim for the window panes and the baseboards, will give you a subtle and modern look. It will also allow you to bring turquoise in (through drapery or pillows) without creating any color conflict.

I would also recommend bringing in white accessories…vase, tray, photo frame to add interest without adding clutter.

I’m so excited about your room coming together!
